Our Founders provided one method for amendments to be approved by the Congress, and there have been 27 ratified in our history. Six others were submitted but never ratified.
The Founders set one other amendment process for the PEOPLE to call a Convention of the States without the involvement of the Government. Once 34 States approve a resolution written by state organizations, the Federal Government must authorize a Convention for debating the resolution.
